Ven. Choekyi was a student of Geshe Jampa Gyatso, a Tibetan Buddhist nun originally from Israel. Ordained as a novice nun by Zopa Rinpoche in 2001 and fully ordained in Taiwan a decade later.
Following her studies, Ven. Choekyi practiced in retreat and passed away in 2019, following a decade of arthritis-related severe disability.
With the kind help of world renowned Thangka artist and teacher Andy Weber, Ven. Choekyi learned to paint Thangkas and this was her heartfelt offering for today’s hectic, busy times: Thangkas following the strict Tibetan econometric tradition, painted by a westerner – for westerners.
